Promens, a leading global plastics manufacturer headquartered in iceland, has formally opened its first production facility in Taicang, China on 30 November 2013. The grand opening ceremony gathered a number of important attendants, including Chairman and CEO of Promens Group, Icelandic Ambassador in China, local leaders of Taicang City.
According to Mr Bjarki Gardarsson, Managing Director of Promens Asia, in December 2012, the Board of Promens approved the investment plan for a manufacturing facility in China, to be based in the city of Taicang. The opening on Saturday marked the beginning of a series of phases planned by Promens. This first phase at present is based on rotational moulding and will primarily serve the food and material handling industries. The next phase is geared towards the expanding automotive industry in China and is set to begin production early next year, while the third phase will be based on injection and blow moulding technologies, planned at the end of next year.
Promens operates 42 manufacturing facilities in Europe, North America and Asia. The company manufactures a wide range of products, including packaging for food, cosmetics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. It also serves multiple industries such as food processing, chemical and medical industries, as well as the automotive, heavy machinery and electronic industries.
